Mr. Abbey of the BLM stated that 99.5% of the Nevada Ranchers are partners with the BLM and agree with BLM "appropriate management". In an effort to assist Mr. Abbey substantiate his claim, a tally of responses is below.
Favoring the BLM "appropriate management" - 1 (7%) Not Favoring the BLM "appropriate management" 14 (93%)
C"mon Happy Ranchers send us your pleasant experiences with BLM "appropriate management" so that Mr. Abbey will not have to be embarrassed over getting his numbers backwards.

It's amazing how you do not have the courage to mention that the
guy in the picture has his right hand on a pistol, and the fact that the picture was
staged. All you people want to do is break the law and destroy our land by over grazing. I
have seen overgrazed land it is a horrible sight and the only good it will do is destroy
our beautiful state. I guess when you don't care about that and only care about free food
for your cows it doesnt matter that our state is being destoyed. Sir Theron
(NOTE - I
didn't respond to this person the same way that the govt doesn't respond to us but for
different reasons. The govt is silent because it would have to acknowledge the truth. I'm
silent because I finally realized that the bigger idiot is the one who argues with an
idiot. Dennis)

Letter To the Editor - Reno Gazette Journal
In Regards to your article on April 26, 2005 titled
"Billboard takes aim at BLM plan to expand its powers" you quoted Mr. Bob Abbey and I also quote your article."Abbey said the critics are largely extremists who represent less than 1 percent of Nevadas ranchers."
I am not going to waste a lot of time worrying about the few people whose only purpose is to create controversy and conflict. Our time is better spent working with the 99.5 percent of the public with whom we work in partnership to appropriately manage their public lands, he said.
Mr. Abbey, as an impartial observer of Ranchers and BLM interplay, I find this labeling and statistical quoting to be questionable.
I feel that both sides should be held accountable for their actions and remarks which leads me to the sane approach to the truth. I can supply you, and the public, evidence of BLM encroachment on their rights and property from 10 ranchers that I can think of right off the top of my head. I would expect from you Mr. Abbey the list of the other 1,990 ranchers who appreciate and will attest to the "appropriate management" by the BLM.
I would also rest comfortably with the notion that the BLM "partners" would donate their time and money to erect another 99 billboards to inform the public of their comfort with your "appropriate management."
The time has come for accountability of your slanderous words and documented proof of your assertions Mr. Abbey. I can honestly say that "I'm listening." Are you? Sincerely, D. G. Reno
The BLM jumped jurisdiction and thought all Mining-Claims were under their
jurisdiction, unknown to them, Mining -Claims are private property with the law. In 1976,
when the BLM moved upon the Mining-Land it was, as the BLM said its mandatory for all
Claim owners to obtain Claim numbers, (LIE #1) When the miner did this the BLM secretly
made CONTRACT and maintained total control of the Mining-Claims. (The Miners came out of
the protection of the 1872 Law and came under the BLM regulations). "By operation of
Law." The BLM was soon to find out their regulations were not Law.
In 2000-2, the Mining -Claims were placed in the Maritime-Law with the Title 42, Section
1986 for the correction then recorded in the County-Courthouse, with the Title 4, 1,2,3,
and with the Red Fox postage stamp(gold and Silver) bill of the lading paid.
When the local BLM goons moved in on Me and my Wife, we were threatened with damaging
Federal property(LIE# 2) with fines of $24,00.00 and twelve years apiece in Federal
prison.For owning our private property.
I immediately filed a Maritime-Law class action in Federal-Court/Port against this
illegal-jurisdiction Governmental move by using the code-law, title 28, title 18, title 42
and many of the other Federal laws, this class action was not contested of any accord, the
BLM and Dept. of the Interior ran for cover. weeks later the BLM goon were on a local
radio talk program telling the people of the wonderful accomplishments of the BLM, then
someone called in and asked the question of why they lost the Class-Action-Law Suite?, the
answer was "WE LOST BY A TECHNICALITY". By the way one of the goons no longer
works for the BLM. The land is now free and clear of any Governmental interference. :R-R

A friend forwarded your story to me.
A Team of friends are fighting a similar situation that occurred at Cima Dome near Cima, CA, in the High Desert within the Mojave National Park (created by Senator Feinstein's 'Desert Protection Act, Oct 1994).
If you haven't already received the affidavits of Bobby Parker and Leo Spatziani, send me an e-mail and I will e-mail you copies. I am very happy to see that citizens are trying to do something about the abuses by the BLM. Here in Northeastern California and Northwestern Nevada the BLM seems to be growing by leaps and bounds. 30 years ago there were 2 or 3 BLM employees overseeing this area. I have no idea how many are here now, but there are at least 50 or 60 BLM vehicles in Cedarville and Alturas. None of these vehicles used to have red lights and armed occupants. That as you are all aware, has changed. These armed people make me very nervous as I travel in Northwestern Nevada trying to enjoy the solitude, and have them stop me and want to know what I am doing on THEIR LAND. Many of them seem to think when they are employed by the BLM, they then own the land they want to control. Keep up the good work of informing the public of their abuses. I think the Billboard East of Battle Mountain is great, and will be seen by many who might not be aware of what is going on. We, Ranchers, Rock Hounds, Prospectors, Campers, Hunters, and every other citizen who has a right to be on this land, which is basically all of us, need the BLM off our backs and a lot less of them burning taxpayer paid for gas. Again keep up the good work of informing the general public. None of can do this alone, but collectively maybe we can take our land back from the BLM. The USFS is basically the same, but that is another story. Butch & Sandy

Billboards! What a fantastic idea. I am a horse owner who is a member of the American Endurance Ride Conference that became aware of western states problems 5 years ago when mysteriously our state DCNR shut down access to public land where we held an endurance ride for 9 years, I went looking for answers because the answers the DCNR gave smelled really bad.We have only one National Forest, that has been under greenie attack for the past 10 years trying to shut down logging and devastating rural communities, like your spotted owl thing. We have had eco-terrorist acts etc.Guess who is our current secretary of the DEP? Your former enemy, Katie Mc Ginty of Staircase -Escalante disaster .As if that isn't bad enough the government has found a way to federalize our state owned land by the back door. It is called the Heritage Park Program. Our entire state thanks to former Governor Ridge and his green cronies, is totally chopped up into Heritage Areas without our consent or notification until after the fact.
Where I live is the Lumber Heritage Area and adjoining it is the National Oil Heritage Area. These two Areas encompass the north western and North Central part of Pennsylvania, all of it is in danger of becoming a Bioreserve and of course rural cleansing. Our state DCNR and its NGObuddies are in a mad frenzy buying as much private property as they can to add to the state forest system. This area is resource rich, gas ,oil, and the most valuable hardwood timber in the world.
The head of an environmental group called the Allegheny Defense Project, funded by the Hienz Foundation and Sierrra Club etc, has gleefully made the statement if he can stop the logging of the Allegheny National Forest logging can be stopped anywhere. So you see friends we will need our own bill board real soon. You have been their done that and we can learn from you.
My personal experience led me to find answers and had that not happened I would have never known what you have been going through listening to our controlled media. I have cried tears of rage reading story after story on different websites such as Range Magazine. This nation must wake up before we are all slaves. As we educate the ignorant I have faith that the good people of this country will want to support our common cause.. Liberty..Send me info on how I can join you. D. Z.
*****In 1997, what ever happened to the $billion BLM erased from the Indian Nation in north east America, from the Indian Affairs? Nothing, those BLM employees just got an early retirement! T. R.
*****Today I read of your cause in the Vegas R-J, & I would like to back you. I am Desert Land Entryman (DLE) N-49548, N-52292 (consolidated by IBLA Order). For the last 17-years, BLM has taken bribes to swap & exchange my 160-acres in Laughlin, NV, without success. All their "land swaps" proposed did not work.
In 1996, the BLM & their private developer enticed some Metro police to extremely beat me at a casino, & force me out of Laughlin. Weeks later, such police broke into my business there. Two weeks later, they destroyed all structures on my land & took it somewhere.
Early this year, BLM "Drafted" the "Laughlin Land Auction", nominated by their private developer, to transfer my 160-acres in Section-16 to such developer! The BLM website named "BLM Land Auction" disclosed my "N-49548" "Litigation filed" encumbrance on Section-16, but 3-weeks later erased such encumbrance! I quickly notified the IRS, Department of InJustice, etc.
10-days ago, all BLM webites went down with a "403 Forbidden" notice. To date, you can only receive emergency links on the BLM webite, because it is still shut down. Was it my "Litigation filed" the reason? I predict certain BLM players will be indicted on this one, under due process of law. P.S. DLE means a desert farmer using irrigation, 43 USCA 321 et al. I for one abhor the conscienceless actions of the so called BLM and any part they play in rounding up wild horses for slaughter.......I'll bet there is a money trail somewhere that leads right back to their bank accounts......I can see that they are godless lowlifes that need to be rounded up, tarred and feathered and run out of town. Sincerely, L. D. Reno

I came across www.byebyeblm.org web site and was glad to see that serious efforts are underway in Nevada. I support a full Statehood for Nevada. Part of the reason is due to my experience with BLM when we purchased a ranch property near Wells Nevada. The right-of-way easement we had to acquire from BLM in order to access our ranch property was one negative experience. The easement agreement was unfair, which discouraged us from building the road the very beginning however we went ahead and completed the road just to make a point. We eventually sold the ranch and bought other ranch property that sits adjacent to highway 93, meaning we won't have to haggle with BLM, which is for the better. Still the older ranch and the new ranch sits border to BLM on all four sides. Before we sold the old ranch the BLM crew stood by and did not make any effort to stop a very small wildfire near our ranch. They stood by while I watched them sit around their fire trucks until the fire grew bigger and bigger before they picked up their shovels and axes. That fire ended up burning over 66,000 acres and came to the border of our house on the ranch. No grazing was allowed for the next few years, putting the Taylor family at Wine Cup Ranch out of business and forced them out of their lease. I've witnessed the abuses of BLM enough to know that they do not represent the good of Nevada and ranchers. B. C.
